F**k My Hair

It's damaged

I cut it

It grew out wonderfully and healthy

I dyed it

It's damaged

I cut it

It grew out wonderfully and healthy

I permed it

It's damaged

BIG CHOP!!!!

I oiled it

I conditioned it

Watched millions of YouTube channels on different ways to help it grow

I didn't do any of it

I wore wigs

I forgot my hair was underneath there

I barely washed it or oiled it

It broke off

I cut it

This has been too much for me to keep up with, but I've been too busy trying to find out what the world likes and appreciates so I can mock it and be accepted. I knew I had to stop trying to fit in with the hair movement after those natural ass products started hitting my pockets and I found myself getting ready to put mayonnaise and avocado and crap in my head. It was such a mess, it was so annoying! Cutting my hair off was the best beginning I've ever had. First of all, all of my wigs lay one hell of a lot flatter lol. But that's not the best part, it's a damn good reason, but that's not the best part. The best part is that I'm happy because I'm free, granted I've got the nickname Lil Bill and Reese's Cup stuck to me, but having my hair cut makes me happy. Some people say your hair defines you and I can somewhat agree because this nice blonde bald head of mine defines my spontaneous, daring, and enthusiastic personality. Some people have a lot of opinion about my hair. People have their opinions about a lot of Black women hair, including the weave in their hair down to the coils that many deem as unfit. For example, I had an interview with a medical company and my hair was braided down and appropriate and I was overqualified. I didn't get it. I was bummed out because it was a step in the direction that I was trying to take my life, however, a close acquaintance of mine shared with me the reason I didn't get the job was that they didn't like my hair. How she found out that information, I will never know, but my point is that your hair is a big symbol nowadays. I, myself, can care less about it, but people do. I have friends who tell me that I have to wear a wig when we're going out to clubs and things, who crack jokes about me but I don't care lol. I love the hair I have and you should too. You don't always have to reform to a certain look or expectation because you feel you get by better with it. Learn how to break down those personal barriers and express yourself in ways that you deem fit for you. Everyone else is living their own lives and they're not having a problem at all sleeping with the decisions that they've made so you shouldn't either, as long as the decision was legal and ethical. Be comfortable and understand that your process may not be the same as the other person's process and that can be with anything, not just your hair. But for me, I had to learn this lesson with my hair and now I'm happier than ever and once you find a space where you want to recreate yourself, please do it. Take that plunge! Please!!!!!
